In late 2003 the Board of Directors of this Chamber unamimously approved a strategic plan that included the formation of a convention and visitors bureau on behalf of our members. Since then, the MRCC has successfully launched and operated a destination marketing website called StayInTheMeadowlands.com which has won 2 Honorable Mention Awards from the American Chamber of Commerce Executives organization ( ACCE ), in an effort to help generate the necessary funds to sustain such an effort. The success of the website provided the impetus for the NJ Meadowlands Commission to assist the Chamber with grant funding to expedite the planning process. The grant has allowed for the creation of a business plan to operate a self sustaining CVB, provided ability to improve direct and indirect marketing capability of the SITM site, develope new functionality within the site for more user value, establish visitor center kiosk program and to create a front dest training program for all member hotels to educate and inform key staff on the regions destination assets and resources.
